About Derick Ryan
Welcome to the web log of Derick Ryan, currently a short order cook on the colony ship Jupiter Three, bound for the moons of Jupiter. I was fortunate enough to be selected in the last round of the lottery for one of the few remaining spaces on board the colony ship, which explains why a 13 year old (that’s 27 in terrestrial years) shuttle pilot from Mars find himself working as a cook on the third shift in a second rate diner (sorry Lisa) on the fourth level of this converted frigate.
Anyway, the shrinks on Mars mandate that each of us keep a log on this journey as a “therapeutic release”, which probably is not a bad idea considering there are just under 500 of us squeezed into the Jupiter Three.
So if anyone is interested in the adventures of a short order cook taking a one way trip to Jupiter, feel free to come back as often as you like. I will try to keep it as interesting as I can without triggering any “maladaptive adjustment disorder” red flags back on Mars.
